Really 4.5. I didn't know until this afternoon that they are a seasonal restaurant until today because their website doesn't mention it. But it makes sense because of their location.
Today was my second time here, my last time being in August. Then I got the littleneck clams with chorizo and lobster roll. The clams were the standout.
Today I had the salt and pepper shrimp appetizer. Very tasty. Spicier than I expected but still very good. I think the shrimp were cooked a minute or so too long but nothing terrible and jumbo shrimp would have been nice.
I enjoyed my entree. I forget the exact name but it was a variation on linguini with clam sauce. Fettuccine with littleneck clams, still in the shell (be careful, two shells were broken and one of the pieces got messed up with my pasta), tomatoes and olive oil. The clams were amazing. The only down side was they gave you the Parmesan cheese you get in the supermarket that you shake out of the plastic canister. I usually don't use it but I tried it, in case I was wrong (fresh Parmesan has a distinctive smell. This had none at all!). It tasted, seriously, like nothing. And it didn't melt on the hot pasta.
I wish they had more selections on the dessert selection, especially something light if you don't want something heavy after a big meal. Seasonal fruits would be perfect, and healthier for diabetics than the cakes, pies and ice cream they currently serve. But I settled on the chocolate cake. Not a bad choice! -

We found ourselves going to Jake's 1x a week for fried shrimp, my favorite is Buffalo shrimp, but each time we try the Haddock it falls short. So much so that I am averaging my grade to a 2.6 .
Last night once again to the Haddock, although not oily as we had it once there is just flat, bland, no real taste. It's how they flour, and if it's breaded, well it basically is not good. New suggestion, try Nantasket Flats (NF) that serves a nicer fluffy haddock. Actually, I'd take wallhburgers haddock sandwich over Jake's. The J Lor is good vino there but you can get SilverPalm at NF. Jakes, change the flour and try panko for breading.
OH one good note, the lobster roll there is fresh, and very good , say a 3.9 -

We went to Jake's Seafood in Hull yesterday 8-22-19 (first time this season) and purchased a medium size fried clams to go for $15.95, almost $18.00 with tax.
When we opened it up at home, it was a small handful portion of a few clam strips and mostly deep fried crumbs. Such a blatant rip off!!!! They couldn't spare some clam strips?!!!
Since last summer, they have substantially reduced the amount of clam strips and raised the price.
We all used to eat there in the restaurant at times every season. The food is okay, but after being ripped off for nearly $18.00 for what was basically a handful of deep fried crumbs, we're done with Jake's. It left a bad taste in our mouth (no pun intended) for Jake's. So we're done eating there. -

Had lunch at Jake's while visiting a friend in the area, we were up from Ft.Lauderdale. Everyone in our party enjoyed our entrees. I had the Jake salad with grilled shrimp. The shrimp were large and cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere on the water and pleasant, friendly server.

A visitor to Hull. Impressed with lively atmosphere! Great seafood in Hull! I enjoyed the Parmesan crusted swordfish. It comes with two sides- choice of fries, mashed potatoes, garden salad, cucumber salad, broccoli, or coleslaw. I chose mashed potatoes and the broccoli. The swordfish was delightfully prepared- thin crispy Parmesan crust brings out the soft texture of the swordfish. No complaints out of me!
